چکیده

We resolve a long-standing question on L completeness of the timescale (or wavelet) system generated by the Mexican hat function, when p ≥ 2. Our main result concerns frequency-scale systems generated by modulation and dilation of a single function. The mixed frame operator (analysis followed by synthesis) is shown to be bijective from L(R) to itself, for 1 ≤ q < ∞, so that the frequency-scale synthesis operator is surjective. Tools include the discrete Calderón condition and a generalization of the Daubechies frame criterion in L. Completeness of the Mexican hat and other wavelet systems in L then follows for 2 ≤ p <∞, by Fourier imbedding of frequency-scale systems.

Numerical Solution of Delay Fractional Optimal Control Problems using Modification of Hat Functions

In this paper, we consider the numerical solution of a class of delay fractional optimal control problems using modification of hat functions. First, we introduce the fractional calculus and modification of hat functions. Fractional integral is considered in the sense of Riemann-Liouville and fractional derivative is considered in the sense of Caputo. Then, operational matrix of fractional inte...

The Mexican Hat Wavelet Family . Application to point source detection in CMB maps

We propose a new detection technique in the plane based on an isotropic wavelet family. This family is naturally constructed as an extension of the Gaussian-Mexican Hat Wavelet pair and for that reason we call it the Mexican Hat Wavelet Family (MHWF). We show the performance of these wavelets when dealing with the detection of extragalactic point sources in cosmic microwave background (CMB) map...

Free Vibration of a Generalized Plane Frame

This article deals with the free in-plane vibration analysis of a frame with four arbitrary inclined members by differential transform method. Based on four differential equations and sixteen boundary and compatibility conditions, the related structural eigenvalue problem will be analytically formulated. The frequency parameters and mode shapes of the frame will be calculated for various values...

Continuous and discrete Mexican hat wavelet transforms on manifolds

This paper systematically studies the well-known Mexican hat wavelet (MHW) on manifold geometry, including its derivation, properties, transforms, and applications. The MHW is rigorously derived from the heat kernel by taking the negative first-order derivative with respect to time. As a solution to the heat equation, it has a clear initial condition: the Laplace–Beltrami operator. Following a ...

Comparisons of wavelet functions in QRS signal to noise ratio enhancement and detection accuracy

Abstract We compare the capability of wavelet functions used for noise removal in preprocessing step of a QRS detection algorithm in the electrocardiogram (ECG) signal. The QRS signal to noise ratio enhancement and the detection accuracy of each wavelet function are evaluated using three measures: (1) the ratio of the maximum beat amplitude to the minimum beat amplitude (RMM), (2) the mean of a...
